Barca vs Madrid round 3!

by Lindsay Cook

This April the Spanish football teams F.C. Barcelona and Real Madrid have come head to head. Twice. Once was during the league match, La Liga held in Madrid, and the other in the Copa del Rey held in Valencia. Their third meeting will happen later today in Madrid.

The results of the two matches so far may have surprised many. Before these games the last time the teams came head to head was in November 2010 when F.C. Barcelona beat Real Madrid very convincingly 5-0.

These matches however did not see the Barcelona team gain such victory! The first match was drawn 1-1 whilst the second game, for the Copa del Rey, saw Madrid victorious, with a 1-0 win over Barcelona.

Both games were close as reflected by the score. In the most recent game, the Copa del Rey match, which took place last Wednesday, the only goal of the match was scored by Ronaldo in injury time, the 103rdminute of the game! This goal was the goal which led Madrid to victory.

Real Madrid were delighted with their win as it shows that all is to fight for. Mourihno the Real Madrid coach was keen to emphasise that his team are improving. In the first meeting of the teams this year they drew, in the next they won…

However this rivalry is not over yet! The teams will come head to head once again in a Champions League match happening later on today in Madrid!
