Easy ways to start learning Spanish

by Laura Ellis

In the initial stages of learning Spanish, I remember most definitely the fear incited as I was presented with books and newspapersclearly filled with words I didn't and wouldn't understand. However, thanks to a suggestion I managed to discover some easier methods of Spanish immersion.

Firstly, however simplistic as it may seem, Children's books are a perfect way to start. Designed for literal beginners to any language, these allow absorption of vocab in a non-overwhelming way. Often, as well, bilingual books can be found, thus alleviating the tiresome need for a dictionary.

Comic strips were another handy invention, as often they can contain interesting and satorical information, aimed at adults but still simplistic.

Television and films will always be an invaluable way to learn, and although daunting to begin with, once your ear and brain are used to it, listening to a real Spaniard won't be nearly as hard as before.

Or the clear alternative, book yourself on a Spanish course. Here at don Quijote we have a wide range of courses for every level, with the added bonus of a true Spanish or Latin American experience.
