When you come to a different country there are certain things that stand out for you, but these things will not be the same for everyone. During my stay here in Spain I have gone around trying to find out what people from different countries think about ‘the Spanish way of life’. Here is what I found...

For myself...

View on Spain

  • Such a laid back atmosphere, you enjoy what you are doing and you wont rush to try and get things done that can’t be done. Also I have learned that it’s ok to be out on a Sunday at 9-10pm enjoying a meal with your whole family.

Favourite Place in Spain

  • So far the old streets of Salamanca, I still have much more to explore though.

Favourite Food

  • Most defiantly Tapas, with churros a close second.

The Thing That is Most Different From my Home

  • The fact that shops close down for holidays, in Ireland you would never have that.

My Favourite Spanish Name and Word

  • Carlita and pequeñita

  • For me, Spain is more than the siesta – fiesta – tapa country. Spain is a way of living, a way of thinking. Spanish people knows how to take the time to live, to fully enjoy their free time with their friends, families, relatives.

Favourite Place in Spain

  • Madrid. Madrid is for me a cosmopolite typical Spanish place.

Favourite Food

  • I really like the tapas bars, actually I love them.

The Thing That is Most Different From my Home

  • To me, the most different habit is the schedules. I would say that there is at least 1 ½ hours difference in what I am used to. The Spanish rhythm of life is something very different for me.

My Favourite Spanish Name and Word

  • Ceaser and Sospechoso.

Tim from England

Favourite Place in Spain

  • Sevilla was the most exciting place I've travelled to so far - their fiestas are unlike anywhere else I've ever experienced.

Favourite Food

  • Nothing beats travelling to the coast and sampling the local seafood.

Favourite Drink

  • Traditional cider from Asturias, which tastes very different and is poured in such an unneccessarily flamboyant way that you can't help but love it.

The Thing That is Most Different From my Home

  • Definitely the Spanish attitude with regards to time and punctuality.

My Favourite Spanish Name and Word

  • Lazaro and "La feria"
