Spanish Christmas Calendar
by
Lee
on Thu 15 Dec 2005 10:25 AM CET
The main difference between a Spanish Christmas (Navidad) and many other versions is the importance of January 6th. In Spain, it’s on this day that children receive their presents, which are traditionally left by The Three Kings (Los Reyes Magos) rather than Father Christmas or Santa Claus.
You'll find in this article a
Calendar of Spanish christmas celebrations and some vocabulary (in English and Spanish) related to Christmas. more »

by
Paqui
on Mon 05 Dec 2005 12:44 PM CET

A football championship organised in Valencia
for foreigners, brought together students of Spanish from 27 different
countries.
The don Quijote school team counted
players from the 5 continents.
During two days the language of football
became the universal language for these students. A great way to meet
people and make friends while you enjoy a good game of football. I have
included an attachment with an article published by the newspaper
"Superdeporte" more »

Subtitles for learning languages
by
Paqui
on Thu 01 Dec 2005 12:23 PM CET
Using adiovisual materials is always a good help when studying or teaching a foreign language. Using recordings from native speakers, DVDs, films or interactive presentations, will help to improve the student's comprehension skills, enrich his/her foreign language vocabulary and will also help to lose the "fear" of speaking a foreign language. A new method to use in your class can be asking your students to create subtitles. Leonor Quintana (Spanish teacher in Greece) tells in her blog about a new software developed by the Greek Open University to teach Spanish through subtitling. more »
