Llevo en esto del Spanish Foreign Language (ELE) muchos años, tantos que cuando empecé ni siquiera se usaban estos términos para describir la materia. A lo largo de mi camino en este campo he pasado por todas las tareas implícitas en el proceso desde que el estudiante llega el primer día del "Spanish Course" hasta que termina (prueba de nivel, clasificación, clase en todos los niveles a personas de todas las nacionalidades, edades, profesiones, procedencia cultural, ideologías...), por todas las las funciones que puedan existir en este campo: enseñar, coordinar, dirigir...; he elaborado materiales didácticos, he formado a futuros profesores... ¡en fin! he hecho de todo. En cada estadio y en cada función he encontrado muchas ventajas, pero la más gratificante y enriquecedora ha sido compartir culturas y diferentes formas de ver la vida.

If you are looking for a different way to learning Spanish and you want something else from your stay abroad, think about combining your Spanish course with 4 weeks of volunteer work in Mexico or Peru.

There are different types of work available, depending on your background and your preferences, options available include social work, education, tourism, cultural work and catering. Possible placements

can be working in a clinic, a hospital, a project for street children, a home for elderly people or a primary school and the volunteer activity you will be doing will vary from teaching English, helping the children with their homework to playing, reading stories, preparing meals, organising sports, cleaning, shopping or painting.

Volunteer programs are available in Guanajuato (Mexico) and Cusco (Perú).
