I am reading "el origen perdido" (The lost origin) by Matilde Asensi, a thrilling fiction story in which hackers, Inca civilisations, pyramids, and ancient languages of Latin America like Quechua and Aimara are mixed together. The book is originally written in Spanish and the story takes place in Barcelona. Reading books in Spanish (specially if they are not a translation but originally written in Spanish) is an excellent way to practice Spanish and to learn new words. Although it is not too difficult to read, I will recommend the book to students with higher intermediate or advanced level of Spanish. Friday, July 8

You are still on time to participate in the tomato battle of Buñol, in Valencia
Every year, the village of Buñol hosts La Tomatina, the world's largest vegetable fight, where around 20.000 people throw tomatoes to each other. Besides the tomato battle, the town is also filled with parades, fireworks, food and street parties, not to be missed! More information about Tomatina Festival here Wednesday, July 6

If you are interested in learning Spanish and or if you are thinking about taking a course in a Spanish Speaking country the first thing you will need is as much information as possible about the different places where you can learn Spanish, the different types of courses and accommodation, the prices and starting dates, etc. A good way to get all this information is to get some brochures about Spanish courses abroad and then compare the information to see which school or destination suits you the best. At don Quijote we will be happy to send you, free of charge, our brochure by post. Please feel free to ask for our catalogue now so that you can have a look at everything we offer at home and maybe even ask for some advice to your friends or your family. Time to introduce myself a bit.
Since the age of 14 I started taking language courses abroad, my first destination being Ireland where I came back year after year to learn and improve my English. I found out that taking courses abroad was the best possible way (and by far the more effective) to learn a foreign language. more »

Everybody in Spain is really excited because the countdown is finishing to choose the best cadidate for the Olympic Games in 2012. Madrid is "fighting" to be the one chosen. It would be the second city in Spain hosting the Olympic Games. And Barcelona was a great success. Was anyone there? Please, send your comments to tell us your favourite.
