Coming to an end
So the two weeks are up and My Spanish lessons with don Qujote are finished!
My overall experience has been great, all the teachers were so friendly and easy to get along with.
The other students in my class were from France, Turkey, England, Belgium, Germany and Holland. Every one of them has a place to stay if they ever visit Ireland… I hear the hotels are quite nice. (I’m only joking I mean my house of course!)
After the two week course my Spanish has undoubtedly improved! In the final week we had a test on all we had covered. Although finding time to study can be somewhat difficult with the many activities on offer in Salamanca, I managed to get my certificate which now hangs proudly on my bedroom wall! As mentioned in an earlier post, when I arrived I could speak no Spanish whatsoever. Now however, although my grammar is definitely not perfect, I can usually express what I want to say and can understand others in most day-to-day situations. Immersion is such a great way to learn a language, when you have to use Spanish for everything from taking a taxi to the pool to ordering your drink out at night, you learn fast!
Luckily, I have the opportunity to stay on in Spain for another 6 months and I plan to practice and build on everything learned during my course at don Quijote. I’ve begun to leave my map at home now and one day soon I know I’ll be brave enough to venture out without the dictionary!
¡Hasta Luego!
